Somethings been bugging me about this page and I realized what it is: Eddie in that first panel saying Fritz is ‘so mean.’ I reread the past pages and nothing stood out as particularly insulting towards Eddie. On the contrary, I found Fritz surprisingly insightful and intuitive. He was just blunt with his remarks. It makes me wonder if Fritz is really that mean or if that’s just Eddies interpretation because of his unsubtle directness. Eddie seems to be a little too sensitive to his tone (at least, in this instance) and that’s keeping him from hearing his words. Which is really too bad because as much as Fritz could learn from Eddie, I think Eddie could really grow as a person and in this relationship if he actually listened to Fritz.
I love how fun it is to think about and dissect this comic, there’s so much going on under the surface. The dynamic between Fritz and Eddie is particularly excellent. They fuck up, but they’re both still so sympathetic, you can’t help but root for them <3
Yes yes and yes. It really bugs me that Ed thinks John is being “mean”. There’s a clear trail up to this outburst: the nightmare, the grabbing, how John feels about being hidden away in the apartment all the time…
John is toxic in a lot of ways. Being traumatized and having a breakdown is not one of them.
Cant agree with you or Salem. I get trauma and poor mental health make you act certain ways, but as someone with her own trauma and mental health issues I gotta say Johnny’s constant obnoxious behavior and douchebaggery aren’t just mean, but downright toxic. It’s not Eddie’s responsibility to help the little train wreck, and I get abandoning him kind of sucks, but speaking from experience if he doesn’t get the little bugger out of his life the poor dude is gonna get an ulcer. Either Fritz gets some help and accepts he has several serious problems he needs help with, or Eddie finds someone else. Some times loving someone means being tough on them
Oh gosh poor fritz looks so scared and nervous as soon as Eddie mentions Seth
